Staff Definitions

Meet Our Team

Doctors

Your attending physician oversees all of your care. They write orders for medications, procedures, or tests, and they monitor your condition.


Nursing Staff

The nursing staff works together to implement the plan of care that has been developed to help you meet your treatment goals. They see to your physical and psychological comfort. Your team includes a registered nurse (RN), a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or a multi-skilled technician, a support caregiver, and a clerical person.


Nurse Manager (NM)

The nurse manager is the manager of your unit and oversees your care.


Chaplain

The hospital chaplain and a group of volunteer ministers are available to all patients and their families. Please contact your nurse to request these services. A chapel is located on the ground floor.


Dietitians

A registered dietitian assesses the nutritional status of patients, verifies tolerance to their current diet, makes recommendations for diet changes, and provides individual nutrition counseling when appropriate.


Pharmacists

While you are in the hospital, all of your medications are dispensed by our hospital pharmacists. They can answer any questions you have regarding your medications.


Physical & Occupational Therapists

These therapists may visit you in your room, or you may be transported to the Rehabilitation Department to begin exercises which are designed to start the process of physical rehabilitation, or to maintain your muscle strength and coordination while you are hospitalized.


Radiology Technicians

Radiology technicians may come to your hospital room to take X-rays, or you may be transported to the hospital’s Radiology Department for specialized tests by the technologists.


Respiratory Care Practitioners

Respiratory therapists and respiratory therapy technicians work to evaluate, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders. If you are experiencing breathing problems, a respiratory care practitioner may perform various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to alleviate your distress.


Social Workers (Ext. 7407)

Social workers provide individual and group counseling, referrals to community resources, and help with discharge planning and institutional placement. Social workers are assigned to each hospital unit.


Speech/Language Pathologists

Speech/Language pathologists evaluate and treat individuals with disorders that may affect speech, language, swallowing, or cognitive/linguistic skills.


Volunteers (Ext. 7365)

Dedicated volunteers add to the services provided by hospital employees and your physicians. These men, women, and young people provide support throughout the hospital, including delivering mail, newspapers, books and flowers.
